Personal Accident Insurance
24/7 global coverage against unexpected incidents, 365 days a year.
Accidents often strike unexpectedly, anytime and anywhere. Personal accident insurance provides continuous, round-the-clock, worldwide coverage—365 or 366 days a year—whether you are commuting, working, off-duty, or on vacation, helping you manage the financial difficulties and urgent expenses that arise in the unfortunate event of an accident.
Six Core Safeguards
Basic coverage includes accidental death and permanent disability, with optional add-ons for medical expenses, traditional bone-setting and acupuncture, income protection, and hospital cash allowances.
In the unfortunate event of your death due to an accident, the insurance company will provide a lump-sum payment to your next of kin based on the coverage amount you purchased.
In the event of permanent physical disability resulting from an accident, the insurance company will determine the compensation based on the extent of the injury and the schedule of compensation percentages specified in the policy, calculated against the sum insured.
Covers medical expenses incurred for treatment by a registered medical practitioner following an accidental injury; reimbursement is based on actual costs, subject to the purchased coverage limit.
Covers expenses for bone-setting and/or acupuncture treatment following an accidental injury; reimbursement is based on actual costs incurred, up to the maximum coverage limit.
If medical treatment is required and there is a temporary total loss of the ability to work following an accident, compensation is provided for lost wages—typically calculated on a weekly basis—for a coverage period of up to two years.
During a hospital stay for treatment following an accident, a cash allowance is provided based on the insured coverage amount; compensation is typically calculated on a daily basis.
Includes complimentary extra protection
In addition to basic and supplementary coverage, most competitive products on the market offer the following extra benefits at no additional cost; the specific range of included benefits varies slightly among insurance companies.
Double indemnity is payable in the event of accidental death or permanent total disablement while using public transport (with coverage extending to private cars and taxis under certain plans), or in the event of death resulting from residential building fires, police-criminal gunfights, robberies, landslides, floods, or explosions.
Upon each annual renewal, the coverage for accidental death and permanent disability automatically increases by 10%, up to a maximum of 50% of the original sum assured or a specific limit stipulated in the policy.
If you encounter an emergency requiring assistance while overseas, the insurance company provides a 24-hour support hotline.
In the unfortunate event of suffering severe burns, the insurance company will provide compensation based on the nature of the injury and the schedule of benefits specified in the policy.
With a basic coverage of HK$1 million or more, the spouse automatically receives accidental death coverage; in the event that both spouses die in the same accident and leave behind children under the age of 18, double the indemnity or a survivor's benefit is payable.
In the event of an unfortunate accident while overseas, the medical expense coverage you have purchased will automatically increase to the amount specifically stipulated in the policy.

Important Information Regarding Insurance Coverage
Before purchasing personal accident insurance, please note the following to ensure the policy takes effect smoothly and claims can be processed:
Premium rates are calculated based on the insured's occupational category; premiums are lower for clerical roles and higher for manual labor jobs.
When applying for insurance, you must truthfully declare your occupation, the nature of your work, and any part-time employment.
You must declare past accident and medical history as well as pre-existing injuries to avoid affecting future claims.
Optional coverages (medical, bone-setting and acupuncture, income protection, and hospital cash allowance) can be selected as needed.
The extent of additional coverage varies depending on the insurance company, occupational category, and premium level.
The insured amount should be determined based on personal annual income and the level of family financial responsibilities.
